Freezer alarm texts for walk-ins, cold rooms, and milk tanks
A freezer alarm text tells the manager which unit is warming, how warm and since when. There is still time to move the stock. That goes for a walk-in door left open or a compressor that quits after closing. If your monitor emails its alarms, send them to your Welco address and each one arrives as a short text.

A sensor dashboard for Walk-in Cooler: the reading rises above its 4 °C limit to 6.7 °C, outside the allowed band. The email reaches Welco and the phone shows: “Welco: [Walk-in Cooler] 6.7 C, above 4 C limit since 11:58 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.”
What a freezer alarm text saves
Stock moved, not thrown out
Someone hears about a warming walk-in while there is still time to shift product to another cooler.
Closed hours covered
A high-temp alarm at 2 a.m. reaches whoever covers the closed kitchen, not an inbox read on Monday.
Owner and manager both told
One alarm can reach two phones, and each phone gets it once.
Your temp logs stay whole
The monitor keeps the record you show a public health inspector. The text simply gets a person to the cooler sooner.
What you need to text freezer alarms
If your freezer monitor already emails someone, setup is one address change, as with all temperature alarm text alerts. The manager who set up the monitor can do it in about 15 minutes, once Welco has checked your business.
- A monitor, temperature logger, or alarm panel that can email an alarm contact. Most cloud sensor services and many panels can. If nothing on site can send email, read our Sensaphone comparison.
- A Welco account with your business verified. Start free with your work email if you don't have one yet.
- The people who can act, like the kitchen manager or the farm owner, invited to join with their own cellphones. Each one replies YES to a confirmation text first.
Send freezer alarms as texts in 5 steps
Use the app or web page that came with your monitor. Menu names differ by brand, but every monitor that emails has these same parts.
Find where the monitor sends alarms
Open the alarm or contact settings for your sensors. Look for the list of email addresses that get high and low temp alarms.
Approve the monitor in Welco
Copy the address your alarm emails come from and add it to the list of senders allowed to text. Mail from any other address won't turn into a text.
Add your Welco address as a contact
Put your Welco address in that alarm list. If an old
number@txt.bell.castyle address is there, replace it, because Bell's gateway is already switched off.Choose which alarms text
Let high and low temp alarms through. A rule on the alarm wording can keep door-ajar notices and daily summaries in email, where nobody gets woken for them.
Test with a real reading
Turn on test mode, which sends nothing, then lower one limit for a moment so the monitor alarms. Check the sample text, set the limit back, and turn test mode off.

A walk-in left open after close
Here is one night in a Halifax restaurant kitchen, from the probe to the fix.
The monitor emails a high-temp alarm
Temperature alert: Walk-in Cooler B, 6.4 C, allowed 1 C to 4 CWelco matches the after-close rule
The monitor is an approved sender. After the kitchen closes, high-temp alarms go to the closing manager.
The closing manager's phone buzzes
Welco: [Walk-in Cooler B] 6.4 C, over the 4 C limit at 11:52 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.The manager finds the door propped on a crate
They close it, move the dairy to the reach-in, and note the time on the temp log.
The back-in-range email stays in email
A rule texts only alarms, so good news doesn't wake anyone a second time.
Times are an example, and text delivery depends on mobile networks. What you keep or discard is your food-safety call.
A milk tank alarm, before and after
A tank monitor can email when milk sits too warm after milking. The email has plenty of detail, but the farmer only needs three facts at 4 a.m.
Alert email from alarms@tankwatch.example.com, subject “TANK 1 HIGH TEMP ALARM”. Welco trims it to one text of 92 characters: “Welco: [Bulk Tank 1] milk 10.7 C, above 7 C alarm point at 4:12 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.”
Text received: Welco: [Bulk Tank 1] milk 10.7 C, above 7 C alarm point at 4:12 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.

If the farm's alarms go out through a Google Group today, approve the group address as a sender and keep the group. See Google Groups email to text.
Which cold storage alarms deserve a text
Not every notice from a cooler needs to wake someone. Text the alarms where waiting until morning means lost stock.
- High temp alarms on freezers, walk-ins, and cold rooms, after the reading stays out of range.
- Low temp alarms on coolers where produce or milk can freeze, which matters in an unheated building in January.
- No-data or offline alarms, since a silent sensor can hide a warm box.
- Leave in email: daily summaries, door-ajar notices that clear on their own, and low battery reminders.
Tune freezer alarm texts for your crew
Cold storage alarms are rare but costly. These settings help the right person see them.
Nights and weekends to the on-call phone
After-hours routing sends a 2 a.m. cooler alarm to the person covering nights. During opening hours, the same alarm can go to the shift lead on site.
Reach the owner and the manager together
A full freezer is worth a lot. With several phones per alert, both get the text, one time per phone.
Cut the chart links and footers
Monitor emails often add a chart link, a sign-in link and a footer. One-text alerts keep the sensor, the temp and the time.
Stop a power cut from flooding phones
When the power goes out, every probe in the building can alarm together. Limits on alarm bursts hold that to a few texts, and our alarm flood guide has more ways to cut noise.
Match each probe to the right person
An alert rule can send
Walk-in Freezeralarms to the kitchen lead andPharmacy Fridgealarms to the pharmacist on duty. Lab fridges have their own MadgeTech text alert setup.
If a freezer alarm text never shows up
Start with the monitor, then check Welco.
The monitor lost power or Wi-Fi
- What to do
- A dead monitor sends no email. Turn on its offline or no-data alarm if it has one.
The alarm only shows in the vendor's app
- What to do
- Some monitors push app alerts but email only the contacts you list. Add your Welco address to that list.
The Welco feed shows a refused email
- What to do
- The sender isn't approved yet, so Welco turned it away.
The alarm reached Welco but no phone
- What to do
- The person hasn't replied YES, or the number is a landline. Delivery reports show which one.
