SMS alert integrations for the systems your team already runs

SMS alert integrations put a lift station, server or walk-in freezer alarm on the on-call cellphone as one short text. Welco starts from the alert email your system already sends. No system needs a plug-in of its own. Pick yours below for its menus, an example and routing tips.

  • No software to install
  • One email address to change

Works by email with

  • Ignition
  • Nagios
  • Metasys
  • 3CX

An alert email from powerchute@townoffice.example.com arrives. The Welco rule “Power alerts go to IT on call, day or night” trims it, and IT on-call phone gets one text: “Welco: [Server Room 2] UPS on battery, 11 min runtime left at 7:34 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.”

IT on-call phone received: Welco: [Server Room 2] UPS on battery, 11 min runtime left at 7:34 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.

Animation: an alert email, "PowerChute: UPS On Battery", arrives at Welco and becomes one text to the it on-call phone: "Welco: [Server Room 2] UPS on battery, 11 min runtime left at 7:34 PM. Reply STOP to opt out."

What you get by connecting a system

  • Someone actually sees the alarm

The alert stops sitting in an inbox. It lands on the phone of whoever is covering tonight.

  • Keep the system you rely on

No new hardware, no agent and no gateway account. Your SCADA, monitor or BMS carries on as before.

  • The same idea for every system

Each guide below makes the same move: send the alert email to one extra address.

  • Current emails keep coming

Today's recipients keep getting exactly what they get now. Welco is simply one more name on the list.

One town, three systems, one night

A small Alberta town runs a wastewater SCADA, an arena building system and a server room at the town office. One Welco account sends each alert to the right person, the way many small towns set it up.

  1. The arena's building system emails an ice plant alarm

ALARM: Brine supply temperature high, Arena ice plant
  2. The facilities tech on call gets it

Welco: [Arena] Ice plant brine temp high at 11:40 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  3. The SCADA emails a lift station alarm

HIGH LEVEL: Railway Ave lift station wet well 2.4 m
  4. A sender rule picks the standby operator

Mail from the SCADA server goes to the utilities phone. Mail from the arena never does.

  5. The operator replies from the truck

    Headed to Railway Ave now
  6. The reply reaches the SCADA alarm mailbox

Welco emails every reply to the alert's sender, so the morning shift can read it over coffee.

Reply from the standby phone: Headed to Railway Ave now

Times are an example. Text delivery depends on mobile networks. A reply never acknowledges the alarm inside the system that raised it.

How SMS alert integrations work, in 3 steps

Every guide below follows these steps, using that system's real menu names. Anyone who can edit the system's alert settings can do it, usually in 15 to 30 minutes.

  1. Approve the address the system sends from

Add it to your sender allow list. Mail from any other address bounces, so nobody outside can text your staff.

  2. Send its alert email to your Welco address

Open the system's email or alert setting and add your Welco address to the list. Keep the old recipients if you still want the emails.

  3. Fire a test alarm

Press the system's test button and watch the Welco feed. Use dry-run mode if phones shouldn't buzz yet.

Alerts from different systems, as texts

Each text keeps the site, the problem and the time. Long footers and headers stay behind in the email.

  • SCADA: Welco: [Railway Ave LS] Wet well HIGH 2.4 m, pump 1 failed to start at 1:15 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • IT: Welco: [edge-fw-02] Firewall not answering ping since 4:26 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Building: Welco: [Arena] Lobby door 3 forced open at 10:37 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Voicemail: Welco: Urgent line voicemail from (604) 555-0187, 0:52. Tap to listen: welco.ai/v/K4m9. Reply STOP to opt out.

Getting alerts to phones, then and now

The old ways

  • A paging module or plug-in for each system, each with its own setup and upkeep.
  • A carrier address like 4165550123@txt.bell.ca. Bell retired Text via Email on December 31, 2025, per Bell's end-of-life FAQ.
  • In the US, AT&T ended its email-to-text gateway on June 17, 2025, per AT&T's support article.
  • A voice dialer on a phone line nobody has tested in years. Or a shared inbox that someone reads each morning.

With Welco

  • One email address for every system you run.
  • Verified alert numbers instead of carrier gateways. The carrier shutdown guide covers each network.
  • Rules choose the right phone by sender, words and time of day.
  • Plans priced by message credits, with no fee per person.

Features that help with every integration

Whatever the system, these four settings do most of the work.

Frequently asked questions

My system isn't in this directory. Can Welco still text its alerts?

If it can send an email, yes. Send its alert email to your Welco address and approve the address it sends from. The guide for any system that sends email shows where to find that setting on panels, apps and servers.

Why do some tiles say setup guide?

Those guides cover systems we haven't yet seen our customers use. Any system that can send an email works with Welco. Each guide shows where that system keeps its email setting. The steps are the same as for every other system.

Does anything need to be installed on our SCADA or monitoring server?

No. Nothing goes on your servers, and nothing connects into your control network. You change one email address in the system's alert settings. Here's how Welco handles each alert email once it arrives.

Can a single Welco address receive alerts from several systems?

Yes. One address can take email from every approved system. For cleaner rules, give each source its own address, such as yourteam+arena@welco.ai, and set matching rules for each.

What will our staff see, and is there an app to install?

They see an ordinary text that starts with Welco: and names the site, the problem and the time. There's no app. Voicemail and PDFs arrive as a short private link they tap to open.

Will our old carrier email-to-text address keep working?

Don't count on it. Bell's Text via Email service ended on December 31, 2025. Rogers and Fido addresses reportedly stopped working around June 2023, while Telus addresses were still reported working in 2025. Swap the carrier address for your Welco address now.

Is there a charge for each system or each person?

No. Plans have no per-user fees and no charge per connected system. You pay for message credits with no overage, and a short alert uses one. Try any system with a 7-day free trial, 15 message credits, then approve a plan on pricing before your card is charged.
