US Cellular email to text: still working, but plan your alarm switch

US Cellular email to text, at number@email.uscc.net, was still reported working in 2026, with no shutdown date. US Cellular is a US carrier, and T-Mobile bought its wireless business on August 1, 2025. In Canada, Telus is in the same spot: still reported working, with no promise. Either way, change one address on a day you choose.

Published:

Canal pump PLC emails 6085550137@email.uscc.net; the US Cellular gateway replies 250 OK but drops it, so no text arrives. The same alert sent to canal-pumps@welco.ai goes through Welco to the phone. The email reaches Welco and the phone shows: “Welco: [Canal Pump 3] Pump FAIL, no flow at 4:22 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Animation: the old carrier address 6085550137@email.uscc.net is replaced with the Welco address canal-pumps@welco.ai, and alerts arrive again.
  • Still delivering in 2026, per EmailToTxt's July 2026 check and SigSpan. No end date has been announced.
  • T-Mobile closed its purchase of US Cellular's wireless business on August 1, 2025, per the T-Mobile newsroom.
  • In Canada, Telus msg.telus.com was still reported working in 2025, while Bell, Rogers and Fido have stopped.
  • You can switch now, on a quiet day you choose.

What a calm switch gets your remote crew

  • Pump alarms that don't hang on a gateway

A canal pump or well alarm reaches the crew phone as a text, whatever a carrier decides about its gateway next.

  • Your schedule, not the carrier's

Move in a slow week, before spring runoff, irrigation season or harvest. Nobody has to scramble after a missed alarm.

  • Night alarms reach the person on call

Send after-hours alarms to the crew member on call that night, and daytime ones to the shop.

  • Carrier changes stop mattering

If a crew member ports their number from Telus to Koodo or Freedom, nothing changes in Welco.

Is US Cellular email to text still working?

Yes, as far as anyone has reported. SigSpan and EmailToTxt both list it as delivering in 2026. Texts go to number@email.uscc.net, and picture messages to number@mms.uscc.net. It only ever served US Cellular phones in the US.

We are not saying it has stopped. This page exists because its future is less certain than it was a year ago, and the same is true of Telus in Canada. See the full carrier email-to-text timeline for the others.

Why the T-Mobile purchase matters for your alarms

One company now runs both US brands. Here is what that company has done with gateways so far.

  1. T-Mobile's own gateway goes quiet

tmomail.net reportedly stopped without a public date. Read the details on our T-Mobile tmomail.net page.

  2. T-Mobile buys US Cellular's wireless business

T-Mobile closed its purchase of US Cellular's wireless business on August 1, 2025.

  3. uscc.net is still reported delivering

No end date has been announced. Nobody outside T-Mobile knows what will happen to uscc.net.

  4. Switch on a day you pick

If uscc.net or msg.telus.com does change, you may get no warning, just as Rogers users got none. That's the case for moving while things still work.

Should I move my US Cellular or Telus alarms now?

  1. 1.Does any alarm, pump panel or logger email an address ending in @email.uscc.net or @msg.telus.com?
  2. 2.Would a missed alarm from that site cost you water, stock or a crop before someone drove out?
  3. 3.Has it been more than a month since anyone tested that alarm path end to end?

Answer the 3 questions to see your result.

Remote sites that lean on a crew member's phone

Sites far from town often email one person's phone when something trips. These are the alarms we'd move first.

Switch on your own schedule in 15 minutes

With the gateway still working, there's no rush on the day itself. Pick a quiet week, outside your busiest season. A carrier switch checklist helps you find every address.

  1. List each gateway address

Note every system that emails uscc.net or msg.telus.com, and which crew member's phone each address belongs to.

  2. Open Welco and confirm the crew phones

Sign up using a work email address and have your business checked. Invite each crew member to join with their own phone and reply YES to the confirmation text.

  3. Approve the sending system

Add the email address your panel or logger sends from to your approved senders. Welco refuses mail from anything else.

  4. Dry-run with test mode

Turn on test mode and trigger an alarm. You'll see the text Welco would send, without sending it or using credits.

  5. Go live and remove the old address

Turn test mode off, put your Welco address in the system and delete the gateway one. Send one live test to a crew phone.

Move before the gateway decides for you

Set it up while the old path still works, then switch it off.

A canal pump alarm, from telemetry email to text

An irrigation district in southern Alberta had its canal telemetry email a crew member's Telus address. The logger sends long headers. Welco keeps the pump, the problem and the time.

Alert email from telemetry@district.example.org, subject “CELX 204417 Alarm”. Welco trims it to one text of 89 characters: “Welco: [Canal Pump 3] Discharge pressure LOW, 85 kPa at 5:10 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Text received: Welco: [Canal Pump 3] Discharge pressure LOW, 85 kPa at 5:10 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.

A US water district moved its SCADA alarms off carrier gateways the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Is US Cellular email to text shut down?

Not as of the latest reports. SigSpan and EmailToTxt both list email.uscc.net as still delivering in 2026, and no end date has been announced. What changed is the owner: T-Mobile bought the wireless business on August 1, 2025.

Why does T-Mobile owning US Cellular matter for my alarms?

T-Mobile's own gateway reportedly stopped around December 2024 without a public notice. Now that it runs US Cellular too, the same could happen to uscc.net. Nobody has said it will. But alarms are the wrong place to find out by surprise.

Should I wait for a carrier to announce a date first?

We wouldn't. A date may never come: T-Mobile and Rogers both stopped with no notice anyone found. Bell gave a date, but that is the exception. Switching now costs a short setup on a day you pick, while waiting means switching in a hurry.

What is the US Cellular email to text address format?

It is the 10-digit mobile number followed by @email.uscc.net, for example 6085550137@email.uscc.net. Picture messages used @mms.uscc.net. The Telus format is number@msg.telus.com. Other formats are in the gateway list for every carrier.

Will crew members need a new phone or plan?

No. They keep their phone, plan and number. Welco sends them a confirmation text once, they reply YES, and alarms arrive as normal texts that start with Welco:. They can reply STOP at any time.

What does a small district pay to replace the gateway?

Welco runs on monthly message credits, not seats, so there is no fee per crew member and no hardware or setup fee. Plans are priced in US dollars. Trimming each alarm to one short text keeps the credits per alarm low. A 7-day free trial with 15 credits lets you test one pump site first.

Switch your gateway alarms while they still work

Set up Welco on a quiet day and retire the gateway. Check plans or start free.
