Temperature alarm text alerts from the gear you already run

Temperature alarm text alerts from Welco put a warming walk-in on the on-call phone at 2 AM, with the room, the reading and the limit. There is still time to shut the door or move the stock. Welco works from the alarm email your logger sends today, so you add one contact and your records stay as they are.

A sensor dashboard for Walk-in Freezer B: the reading rises above its -5 °F limit to -2 °F, outside the allowed band. The email reaches Welco and the phone shows: “Welco: [Walk-in Freezer B] -2 F, above -5 F high limit at 2:51 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.”

Animation: an alert email, "ALARM: Walk-in Freezer B high temperature", arrives at Welco and becomes one text to the night facilities lead: "Welco: [Walk-in Freezer B] -2 F, above -5 F high limit at 2:51 AM. Reply STOP to opt out."

What changes when a cooler starts warming

  • You hear while the stock is still cold

A high-limit alarm reaches the on-call phone as the excursion starts, not when the opening crew finds a warm walk-in.

  • The right person at 2 AM

Night and weekend alarms go to whoever covers that night. The day manager sleeps through a problem someone else is handling.

  • No more alarms in a shared inbox

The logger keeps emailing as it does now. Welco is one more recipient, and it is the one that reaches a pocket.

  • Your HACCP records stay put

Readings, charts and reports stay in your logger software. Welco only carries the alarm to a phone.

A walk-in cooler door left ajar at 11:40 PM

The closing cook pushed the cooler door, but it didn't latch. Here is how the night goes for a kitchen manager with Welco.

  1. The probe crosses the high limit

    HIGH TEMP ALARM: Walk-in Cooler 1, 42.6 F (limit 41.0 F)
  2. Welco checks the sender and the clock

The email comes from your approved logger service. After 10 PM, kitchen cooler alarms go to the manager on call this week.

  3. One text the manager can read half asleep

Welco: [Walk-in Cooler 1] 42.6 F, over 41 F limit at 11:58 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  4. The manager replies before calling the closer

Calling Dana, she lives 5 min away
  5. The reply lands in the kitchen mailbox

Welco emails each reply to the alarm's sender. Route alarms through a mailbox the morning crew reads, and they see what happened.

Reply from the on-call phone: Calling Dana, she lives 5 min away
  6. The door is shut and the stock is checked

Dana latches the door and probes the dairy shelf. The product never left the safe zone, so nothing goes in the bin.

Times are an example. Text delivery depends on mobile networks. A reply does not clear the alarm in your logger.

How do temperature alarm text alerts work?

Your logger emails the alarm, Welco reads it, and the on-call phone gets one text. Whoever set up the logger can do this, and the logger side is one email field.

  1. Sign up and verify your business

Sign up with your work email, tell us about your kitchen, lab or warehouse, and book a short intro call. We check every business before it can send.

  2. Invite the people who answer alarms

Each manager or tech gets an invite, enters their own mobile, and replies YES to one text. Nobody is texted before that YES.

  3. Add Welco to the logger's alarm contacts

Put your Welco address next to the emails already listed. Approve the logger as a sender so only your systems can start a text, then trip a test alarm.

Pick the system that sends your alarms

Each page shows where the alarm contact lives, a real-looking alarm before and after, and the questions managers ask. Any monitor with an email field works the same way.

These masked examples come from the alarm emails managers forward most. Each one fits on a lock screen.

Temperature alarms before and after Welco

Alarms the old way

  • The logger emails a shared inbox that nobody opens after closing.
  • The opening crew finds a warm walk-in and starts a spoilage count.
  • A logger texting through a carrier gateway that went silent. AT&T switched off txt.att.net on June 17, 2025, per AT&T support.
  • Every repeat of the same alarm pings every manager, day or night.

Alarms with Welco

  • The room, the reading and the limit in one text on the on-call phone.
  • Someone shuts the door or moves the product while it is still in range.
  • Verified, alerts-only numbers that carry nothing but your alarms.
  • Rules that read the alarm wording send excursions to a phone and keep daily reports in email.

Who relies on temperature alarm texts

Anyone who loses money or an inspection if a fridge warms overnight. Pump and plant alarms live under SCADA alarm notification, and boilers under building alarm texts.

What a good temperature alarm email includes

Welco reads the email your logger already writes, so a clearer email makes a clearer text. A good alarm text answers where, what reading, and since when.

Settings cold-chain teams turn on first

A logger only knows how to send an email. These are the parts that make that email a dependable alarm.

  • On-call and after-hours routing

Weekday alarms reach the day crew. A Sunday freezer alarm reaches the person covering that weekend.

  • Several phones per alarm

A vaccine fridge alarm can reach the pharmacist and a backup at once. Each phone gets it one time.

  • Calm during a power cut

When ten probes trip together, alarm flood control sends a few texts that say something is wrong, not a stream.

  • Replies by email

A reply like On my way comes back as an email to the alarm's sender. It does not clear anything in the logger.

  • Shared cloud senders stay separate

Some logger services send every customer's alarms from one address. Welco routes by the Welco address the email was sent to, so only yours reach your staff.

  • Delivery reports

If a text doesn't arrive, Welco says why in plain words, such as a landline or a phone that is off.

Frequently asked questions

Which temperature monitors can send alarm texts through Welco?

Any monitor or logger that can send an email can send texts through Welco. That includes MadgeTech loggers, AVTECH Room Alert, Campbell Scientific loggers, and many cloud sensor services. If your system has an email field for alarms, put your Welco address there. There is no software or hardware to add.

Do my kitchen or lab staff need an app to get the alarms?

No. The alarm arrives as a normal text that starts with Welco:. Each person joins with their own phone and replies YES to one text, so nobody gets alarms they didn't agree to. Anyone can reply STOP at any time.

Can a freezer alarm go to a different person at night than during the day?

Yes. On-call and after-hours routing sends alarms to different phones by time of day and day of the week. A day manager can get weekday alarms while the night phone gets the rest. You set the hours once in Welco, and every alarm follows them.

What happens if a freezer alarm keeps repeating every few minutes?

Each repeat email becomes a text, so a long problem can turn into a flood of repeat alarms. Alarm flood control limits how many arrive in a burst. Most monitors also let you set how often a repeat goes out, so a longer gap there means fewer texts. Clearing the alarm stops the repeats.

My logger still texts a phone through a carrier address. Should I change it?

Yes, and soon. AT&T has ended email-to-text, and Verizon expects to finish closing vtext.com by March 31, 2027, per Verizon support. Swap the number@carrier contact for your Welco address. The carrier email-to-text shutdown page and its migration checklist list each place to look.

How much do temperature alarm texts cost?

No per-user fees, no hardware, no setup fee. A short alarm uses one message credit, and chatty loggers need a trim rule so long emails don't use more. The 7-day free trial includes 15 credits, and the card you give for verification isn't charged until you approve a plan. See pricing for the plans.

What happens if we run out of credits during a heat wave?

There are no overage charges. The account admin gets a low-balance email at 80%, 90%, 95%, and 100% of the month's credits, and at 100% alarm texts pause. A credit pack on the account kicks in by itself and keeps alarms flowing, so a spare pack is a sensible buffer for busy summers.

Does Welco connect to our logger or our network?

No. Welco never logs in to your logger, sensor hub or network. It only receives the alarm email your system already sends, and it accepts mail only from senders you approve. Nothing on your side opens a port or runs new software.
