What changes when the list is gone
One address in every system
Your Welco address replaces every
number@carrierline, whichever carrier each person uses.Phone changes stop breaking alarms
When someone switches carrier or leaves, you update Welco once. No system needs editing.
Proof each text arrived
A delivery report replaces guesswork, so a dropped text no longer hides behind a sent log.
How the email-to-SMS address format works
Each address is the phone's 10-digit number with no spaces, dashes or leading 1. After the @ comes the carrier's gateway domain. The carrier's mail server turned the email into a text for that number.
Because the domain belongs to a carrier, the address only works while that person stays on that carrier. It also stops the day the carrier closes its gateway. Our glossary entry on email-to-SMS gateways explains the idea in more depth.

Answer the 3 questions to see your result.
If any answer is yes: Those alarms rely on a gateway that has closed, is closing or could close without notice. Replace each address with your Welco address.
If every answer is no: No gateway addresses found. Keep the domain list handy for the next new system you set up.
Replace a gateway address in 15 minutes
This is the short version. For a whole site, use the alarm migration checklist.
Search with the domain list
Note each system, each gateway address and the person whose phone it reaches.
Set up Welco and invite each person
Sign up with your work email and verify your business, then email an invite to each person you noted. They join with their own mobile number and reply YES once.
Swap all the gateway addresses for one Welco address
Approve the system as a sender in Welco, then put your Welco address where the carrier addresses were.
Test and confirm delivery
Send a test alarm and check the delivery report for each phone.
Retire every address on this list
One Welco address texts any US or Canada mobile number, on any carrier.

A UPS alert sent to an AT&T picture address
A branch office UPS used to email an mms.att.net address. That path closed in June 2025. Through Welco, the IT lead now gets this.
Alert email from powerchute@branch2.example.com, subject “PowerChute event: UPS On Battery”. Welco trims it to one text of 90 characters: “Welco: [Branch 2 UPS] On battery, 21 min runtime left at 7:52 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.”
Text received: Welco: [Branch 2 UPS] On battery, 21 min runtime left at 7:52 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.
