WelcoYour alerts, by text.

Join on-call text alerts with your own phone

Nobody else can sign you up for Welco alerts. Your team sends you an invite, you open your own join page, enter your mobile number and tick the box yourself. Welco then sends one text, and alerts start only after you reply YES.

How a person joins: Your Company invites them by email and no text is sent. They open their own join page, enter their own phone and tick an unchecked box. Their phone gets the text “Welco: You asked to get Your Company system alerts at this number. Reply YES to confirm. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” They reply YES, get “Welco: You're confirmed for Your Company alerts. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” and show as Joined.

Animation: a staff member opens their join page, ticks the consent box, replies YES to one text, and starts getting alerts.

What the join page looks like

This is an example. A real join page opens from the invite link your team sends, and it names your company. The box always starts unticked.

Your Company invited you

Get Your Company alert texts on your phone

  • What you’ll get: Equipment and system alarms from Your Company, such as a pump fault or a server going down.
  • How often: Message frequency varies with your alerts.
  • Never: ads, offers or spam. Alerts only.
  • Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

The box starts unticked. Only the person who will get the alerts can tick it.

Then, on their phone
  1. Welco: You asked to get Your Company system alerts at this number. Reply YES to confirm. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
  2. YES
  3. Welco: You're confirmed for Your Company alerts. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

No reply means nothing else is ever sent.

What happens after you join

  1. You get one confirmation text

Welco texts the number you entered once and asks you to reply YES. If you don't reply, nothing else is ever sent.

  2. You reply YES

Welco confirms by text, and from then on you get the alerts your team routes to you.

  3. You stay in control

Reply STOP at any time to end every Welco text to your phone. Reply HELP for help, or START to join again. Other stop words, like UNSUBSCRIBE or QUIT, work too.

Why you join yourself

Alerts can arrive at 3 AM, so they should only reach someone who asked for them. That is why your manager can invite you but can never switch texts on for you.

US carrier rules say the same thing. The person who owns the phone must give consent, and an employer can't give it for them. See how Welco meets carrier rules.

Your phone number stays yours. You choose to share it, you see exactly what the texts will be, and you can leave with one word.

  • You type your own mobile number. Nobody enters it for you.
  • You tick the consent box. It is never ticked for you in advance.
  • You reply YES before the first alert. Silence means no texts.

What you will and won't get

You get system alerts from the business that invited you: equipment faults, outages, urgent voicemails and similar warnings. How many depends on how often their systems raise alarms.

You never get ads, offers, spam or sales texts through Welco. Any business that tries is warned in writing, and its third warning closes its account. Read our acceptable use policy for the full list of what accounts may not send.

Each text opens with "Welco:" and closes with the STOP line. US carriers require both, so you always know who is texting and how to leave.

Got an invite?

Open the link in the invite email on your phone or computer. If the link doesn't open, ask the person who invited you to send a new one.

Read our SMS terms and privacy policy before you join. Questions go to hello@welco.ai.

Frequently asked questions

Why did I get an invite to join Welco alerts?

Someone at your workplace uses Welco to send system alarms to the staff who look after them. They think you should get some of those alarms. Nothing reaches your phone unless you join and reply YES.

Will alert texts cost me anything?

Welco never charges you for receiving alerts. Your own mobile plan may charge for texts and data, as with any text you receive.

Can I join with a landline or a desk phone?

No. Alerts are text messages, so you need a mobile number in the US, Canada, the UK or the Netherlands. A work mobile or your own phone both work, as long as it can receive texts.

What should I do if I leave the job or change roles?

Reply STOP to any Welco text, and alerts to your phone end at once. You don't need anyone's permission. You can also ask the business that invited you to take you off its alerts.

Who can see the phone number I enter?

The business that invited you, so it can route its alerts to you and see whether they arrived. Welco never shares numbers collected for texting with anyone for marketing. Our privacy policy has the full wording.
